I am Doctor in Chemistry and MBA and Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá. My recent research focuses on Environmental Chemistry. Main topics are: (i) fate and removal of aqueous (micro)pollutants from water and wastewater, (ii) toxicity assessment of emerging pollutants, (iii) biological effect of engineered nanomaterials, (iv) occurrence and effects of incidental micro- and nanoplastics, and (v) production nanostructured surfaces as antimicrobial materials. I participated in over forty research projects and research contracts and co-authored one hundred and twenty scientific articles (Scopus H-index 37). I'm associate editor of RSC Advances, Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering (Springer) and Toxics (MDPI). I supervised twenty PhD students in four different universities.
