I am Doctor in Chemistry and MBA and I am currently Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá. My research focuses on different topics of Environmental Chemistry and Engineering, mainly the occurrence and effects of incidental micro- and nanoplastics, the fate and toxicity of aqueous (micro)pollutants and the biological effect of engineered nanomaterials. I participated in over forty research projects and research contracts and co-authored about one hundred and fifty scientific articles (Scopus H-index 40). I'm associate editor of RSC Advances, Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering (Springer), Microplastics (MDPI), and Toxics (MDPI). I supervised twenty PhD students in four universities.
